Five #books that give you #feels

When you read a lot you find some books that are either very hard to read, very easy to read, books that make you feel nothing and books that touch you in some way. There are books that you would read multiple times just because of the feeling that they gave you or books that you would not read again because of the feeling that they gave you. I love those books. The books that give you feels. It’s magical when words written by someone that you never met touch you in some way. I gathered five (5) books that made me feel different things at different times.

Here they are:

1. Princess: A True Story of Life Behind the Veil in Saudi Arabia (The Princess Trilogy #1) by Jean Sasson

This book made me sad and angry and made me feel vulnerable. It also made me feel grateful for my freedom. It’s like I realized that I was taking for granted all that I have, my freedoms and rights were normal to me until I read this book. Of course we all know that things in some countries are not so easy but to actually read the words of a woman trapped in that world is touching. I hope that there will come a day when all humans will have the same rights regardless of gender.

2. Me Before You (Me Before You #1) by Jojo Moyes

This book is about life and death. About not taking a minute in a day to feel grateful for what we have, for our health. We feel strong and powerful and that nothing bad can happen to us until it does…until something bad is happening to us. And if that ‘something bad’ doesn’t happen we should consider fortunate and be grateful for yet another day of life. It doesn’t mean that we must live in fear it means that we must be grateful. And…if you were sick and you would have the choice between life or death…what would you choose?

3. A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks

My favorite book and movie ever. This story touched me so very much. It is about being humble and simple and have faith that never goes away…until you found love. Once love is in your life you start to question everything that you ever knew. It’s about being someone and being someone completely different when love touches your heart. It’s about wanting to live but accepting your faith. This book is about pure LOVE.

4. The Te of Piglet by Benjamin Hoff

If you doubt yourself and your self-confidence is low I hardly recommend this book. If you want to learn more about the different types of personalities out there, this is the perfect book. If you think that one small, tiny human can’t make a difference in the world, this book might change your mind. And if you want to find yourself and put yourself back on track and reflect about your path, here it is…this book might help you with that too.

5. A Million Little Pieces by James Frey

This book is pure feels. I mean if you read this book and don’t feel the pain and struggle you might consider the fact that empathy is not part of you. There are parts in this book that gave me chills, other parts were so hard to read it was like I was the character and I was feeling the pain. Yes, I know that some parts of this book are fiction even thought the author initially claimed everything is true but that doesn’t take the feels away. The way this book is written and the message that is given still makes it, in my opinion, a great book with a good amount of feels.

There you are…I hope this five (5) books make you feel what they made me feel or more. Except the last book, you probably want to feel less of that pain because it was scary at times. But these are great reads, with great messages and ohhh so many feels. You probably don’t use ‘feels’ as I used it in this post but I like to break the rules once in a while. 😊

Enjoy the feels !

Jobs…experience…and other things

It comes a point in our adult lives when we must look for a job. Somehow time passed so fast and the adults that were in charge of us are throwing us in the big, wide world and we have to start making a living.

Maybe you went to school for a long time or maybe you decided that you can go through life without it. But time has come. You are out there on the jobs market, you have to convince other people of your worth. This is the hardest part. The convincing can be easy if you are an extrovert, outgoing. But what if you are an introvert, shy and too simple to use all the good things that you have in your favour?!You kinda have to fake that you are something that you are not. 😐

In any case, extrovert or introvert, you have to start with your CV and maybe a cover letter. It is not easy to prepare these and they kinda have to be perfect and outstanding. After, you have to start your research for your job. And this is when it starts to be a headache:

1. Experince necessary:

Did you notice that most (kinda all πŸ™„) jobs are asking for experience. It’s like you get experience out of the air. If nobody is giving you the chance to start your career, from where are you getting that experience? And if you are lucky and find the job you are somehow ‘punished’ for it: salary depends on experience. Anyhow…

2. What we want from you:

This is the part in which the company makes this list of everything they want you to have in order to perform that job right: bilingual, experience, diplomas, be available 24 out of 24, etc. And their list is pretty long in this section. 😊

3. Your tasks for the job:

Here they are telling you all that you have to do for that job. When you look at it it’s really not something out of this world. And maybe you don’t have experience answering a phone for a company but how hard can it be to learn it, right? But they make it look like 10 years of experience makes all the difference.

4. What they give you…

This part is almost always missing. They might make a reference about the salary (that it depends on the experience) but that’s about it. Why do companies think that all that matters is what they want from you? Why do they assume that we can just lose hours from our lives to go to interviews only to realize that the salary is not what we wanted. Some people say that you go to an interview for the ‘experience’. I think that you don’t need experience in that field, you need a job so maybe the companies should be more transparent and say exactly what they offer you from the beginning. Like this you don’t lose your time and they don’t lose their time either. It’s a win-win situation. 😏

#bookreview …The Book Of Negroes: A Novel by Lawrence Hill

The Book Of Negroes: A Novel

The Book Of Negroes: A Novel by Lawrence Hill

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A book based on true events but still a work of fiction. A book that somehow dramatizes events but that makes you think that those things and maybe worse happened to people like Aminata. A book that makes us reflect on the human nature and on how some people think they are superior based on skin color and/or based on which part of the world they are coming from.

Aminata never stops fighting. She never stops believing that her story might make a difference in the terrible world that she is living. Even with all the tragedies that follow her every step of her life journey, she never gives up. She is a true fighter. She is a true human. She is an inspiration for the human kind.

This book has such a strong message, a message about all the terrible things that happened in the world during slavery, a message that we should listen and learn from and not make the same mistakes over and over again. Slavery was, is and it will always be the worst thing that humans can do to humans.

Great read! Five starts absolutely!

Thanks for reading. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

#books … yes please (1)

If you are an avid reader like me you know how hard it is not to spend all your money on books. Yes, you might have a big pile next to your bed, there is no more space on your shelves (or next to them 😁 ) and you wonder when is your phone and/or kindle (e-reader) going to explode with how many books they are caring. But even so, not getting new books is simply out of the question. Because there are soooo many books out there and soooo little time to read them all but you still have (want/must/should…) own them all. I should probably own a library…yeahh….day dreaming….😍

Ok, back to my subject! After spending so much money on so many books the budget becomes a bit limited. And while I am all for supporting the authors financially I am guilty (in secret but not so secret anymore 😊 ) of getting myself some free books or books that have a good deal. Self-confidence…you have it or not…🌟

Someone told me not so long ago that it seems that I am lacking self-confidence. This someone was a person that somehow thought he has some power over me. And while I was in front of him I thought he has the power over me as well. After he left I felt free and I realized that some people have this strong energy that drags you into them and also that maybe I do lack self-confidence.

self-confident To be self-confident is to be secure in yourself and your abilities. When you are giving a presentation or a speech, it helps to be self-confident –- or at least to pretend that you are.

( )

I am a person that almost always doubts her abilities. I know that there are things at which I am really good at but even so I am keep on asking myself if I am as good as I think I am. I don’t really trust the fact that I am good at something. And I always wondered why. You see when this person told me some things like the fact that millennials want recognition for things that they don’t have the knowledge yet, I somehow thought that maybe he is right. Maybe is the key word. He kept on pushing on this subject making me believe that the things that I am actually good at anyone can do them and that maybe I am not as important as I think I am and then…boom…he says this self confidence thing and I am starting to believe him. Getting out of his energy circle, I realized that he was just manipulating me. So maybe millennials want more things but that is probably because time is precious and things can be learned even if you don’t go half of your life to school. Maybe we want to live more and explore more and have different possibilities in life. Maybe I want to be able to have the choice between careers and if one of them is not attracting me anymore to be able to switch because lets be honest, most things can be learned pretty fast without putting ourselves in debts with the student loans. Maybe I, and others too, don’t want to wake up at 50 years old and realize that only then we are living the dream of our lives.

So no…I am not lacking self confidence. I am actually more confident than ever. I believe in myself and in my capabilities and I know I can do better and I actually am. After the spell broke from this man, I went out into the world and in a few days other people showed me my real worth. Because there is nothing wrong with believing in yourself. But everything is wrong when someone makes you believe that you shouldn’t.

Your worth is not always what you think it is but what others tell you that it is! 😐

You might think that it makes no sense…But there are people that feel surprised when others show them a bit of appreciation, when others treat them like they are indispensable, when others want to be part of their lives and want to be around them because they truly appreciate them.

It is hard to believe that such great appreciation still exists. To the point that it becomes overwhelming and somehow hard to accept and hard to believe. But it’s out there. This feeling of being part of something is not easy to accept when you got used to the idea that you are easily replaceable.

So yeah…Your worth is not always what you think it is but what others tell you that it is! πŸ€—
