#bookreview … Siamoises by Michel Canesi & Jamil Rahmani (French)

Siamoises by Michel canesi & jamil rahmani

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I got this book at a library sale for 1$. When I looked at the cover, which represents a bunch of Russian puppets, and when I read the description on the back cover, I somehow knew that I have to read it.

Marie and Sophie are sisters that love each other very much. Right at the beginning of the book the family is passing through a tragedy, their father just passed away. The age of both girls is not mentioned but it is clear that they are both close to puberty. It is pretty obvious that they are greatly affected by the loss of their father, it seems like they had a great connection. This event is deciding the paths that they are taking, as it is in that precise moment that they decide their career.

The book is written from both girls perspective. The chapters are really called ‘Marie’ or ‘Sophie’ so the reader knows exactly what they are doing almost at the same time.

My Review:

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Scarlet is the second book in The Lunar Chronicles and it is even better than Cinder. If like me, you had a hard time understanding the first book and you were not really able to connect with the characters, well let me tell you this: Scarlet will not disappoint you!

Time Crawlers by Varun Sayal
My Review:

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This book was sent to me by the author for an honest review. And here it goes:

The Time Crawlers is six (6) science-fiction short-stories with and about parallel universes and what happens in them. While I don’t really read short-stories I actually enjoyed this book. It is easy to read and it is interesting if you think of the possibility of parallel universes. The language is a bit simplistic but I suppose that can be worked on.

Message in a Bottle by Nicholas Sparks

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
My Review:

I just finished this book and like most Nicholas Sparks’s books it left me with a broken heart. I normally wait at least a day before writing a review, as I need my thoughts to clear after finishing a book, but this time I feel that if I wait I might actually not feel what I do right now. My review does not contain spoilers but I do give out some details, so if you want to stop now…you should!

Theresa and Garrett represent normal people, with normal realities, until their paths cross. Theresa had somehow showed me what I already knew: sometimes you have to push faith just a little bit in order to reach full happiness…and true love…

#bookreview … Veronika Decides to Die by Paulo Coelho

Veronika dΓ©cide de mourir
Plot: Twenty-four-year-old Veronika seems to have everything she could wish for: youth and beauty, plenty of attractive boyfriends, a fulfilling job, and a loving family. Yet something is lacking in her life. Inside her is a void so deep that nothing could possibly ever fill it. So, on the morning of November 11, 1997, Veronika decides to die. She takes a handful of sleeping pills expecting never to wake up.

Naturally Veronika is stunned when she does wake up at Villete, a local mental hospital, where the staff informs her that she has, in fact, partially succeeded in achieving her goal. While the overdose didn’t kill Veronika immediately, the medication has damaged her heart so severely that she has only days to live.

My Review:

There are books that are written to help people find the meaning of life, or help them understand that being different is alright. People must accept themselves, they have to stop fighting who they are in order to make others happy.

#bookreview … Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell

Eleanor & Park
Plot: Two misfits.
One extraordinary love.

Eleanor… Red hair, wrong clothes. Standing behind him until he turns his head. Lying beside him until he wakes up. Making everyone else seem drabber and flatter and never good enough…Eleanor.

Park… He knows she’ll love a song before he plays it for her. He laughs at her jokes before she ever gets to the punch line. There’s a place on his chest, just below his throat, that makes her want to keep promises…Park.

Set over the course of one school year, this is the story of two star-crossed sixteen-year-oldsβ€”smart enough to know that first love almost never lasts, but brave and desperate enough to try. ( see it here ) Continue reading “#bookreview … Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell”
